Theater

In addition to his esteemed music career, Everett Bradley’s theater work as a dancer, choreographer, director, writer, and performer, is every bit as accomplished.

You could say the stage was set when his high school drama teacher cast him as Jesus in Godspell, a bold move in a neighborhood where the Bradleys were only one of two African American families. Everett would go on to be the first American cast in the British show Stomp and became the New York director of the off- Broadway production of it.

He was also one of the writer/creators of Swing and received Theater World’s award for “Outstanding Performer in a Broadway Musical” for his part in it.

Another original show, Vices, enjoyed a successful eight-week run in Chicago, which garnered it eight Jeff Award nominations.

And his list of credits goes on…

Most recently, you would have heard him as the voice of Patience the Lion in Radio City’s Summer Spectacular, or seen him in the Tony-nominated After Midnight as the quartet leader. He has worked with Julie Andrews in Simeon’s Gift, and was also the narrator in Patti Austin’s show Bebop-or-Ella.

Additionally, Everett starred in City Center Encores production of Bloomer Girl, Pittsburgh Public Theater’s production of Ain’t Misbehavin’, played Adrian in California Musical Theater’s production of Smokey Joe’s Café, and was musical director for the off-Broadway production of Miss Evers’ Boys.

The son of two educators, Everett Bradley makes sure he both gives back to the community and fosters young talent with his work as Musical Director of SAY – Stutterers Association for the Young. There, he provides a safe environment for kids to create, and he teaches singing, songwriting, and drumming.

Wanting to explore and make full use of his multitude of talents, Everett is crafting his one-man show, Ev/olution, for which he has already done a workshop in the East Village.

In 2021, Bradley’s holiday funk revue Holidelic made its Off-Broadway debut at The Lucille Lortel Theatre. In Holidelic, Bradley plays the role of Papadelic, Funk’s Father Christmas, an amalgamation of George Clinton and Santa Claus, featuring holiday-themed funk songs written by Bradley and brought to life by an array of top shelf noise makers. The run at the Lortel was part of the theater’s holiday performance series Tinsel: A Global Holiday Celebration, which inspired the new Holidelic single “Tinsel.”
